As I was decorating the “Manners Money Jar” I was reminded of the Easter baskets that I have made for the monkeys to take to school and church for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. It’s a pain for kids to lug around traditional Easter baskets to these activities, and let’s face it…when you’re hustling after eggs, the traditional baskets can spill as many as they hold!
Several years back, I found the perfect solution: $1.00 sand buckets from craft stores or dollar stores. If you have a Michael’s in your area; they carry these buckets for every major holiday, rotating the colors to match the holiday. (I’ve actually used these for several holidays, more on that later:))
So, go out and buy a bucketful of buckets and paint away! You could paint on them, as I did, or even make mosaics out of tissue paper and glue…the possibilities are endless! The buckets are so wonderfully inexpensive, I have even added some simple decorations and given them out as gifts to my monkey’s classmates.
Although I did the majority of the artwork for these, I had the monkeys do thumbprints or fingerprints in yellow paint and then I decorated the prints as bumblebees or clouds. That way we can look each year to see how much they have grown!
Enjoy, and as always…share the love!!
