Ever since we ran out of our “Little Drops of Happiness“, I have mulled over all the options for these simple little frozen yummies.  So the other day after picking berries at Blueberry Hill Farm in Haughton, La, the ideas started rolling around in my berry muddled head!!  Dreamy, creamy chocolate drops of happiness…YES!!

As with my other frozen yogurt treats ( here and here); these are incredibly healthy, easy to make, delicious, and kids love to help make them and eat them!!  Oh yeah, and they freeze really quickly…so you don’t have to plan ahead. :)  We made several variations of the drops this time and have had a blast deciding which are our favorites; I like the ‘Blueberry-Banana Split’ version best!  Note: Any of these frozen yogurt recipes can be made as creamy popsicles…all you need is the popsicle mold! :)

    Dreamy Creamy Chocolate Drops:

    • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt

    • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (you can substitute milk if you prefer)

    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

    • 2 tsp vanilla extract (I have vanilla bean paste which contains extra sugar, so I am adding an extra 2 tsp sugar to this recipe to account for it.)

    • 3 tablespoons amber agave syrup

    • 2 teaspoons brown sugar or cane syrup

Just mix all the ingredients together and use your imagination to create some cool and wonderful treats to enjoy on these hot summer days!  Put the yogurt into a pastry bag or a Ziploc bag for easy piping.  Be sure and keep the tip closed until ready to make your drops; I found out the hard way last time that it will ooze everywhere if you don’t! Be sure to line your pans with wax paper so the drops will pop off easily after frozen.  Once they are frozen, you need to move them into freezer bags to keep them from developing freezer burn.  They should keep for at least 2 weeks, but mine never last longer than a few days!

We made three versions of our dreamy, creamy chocolate drops:

    1. Vanilla Wafer Cookie Bombs – start with a vanilla wafer, pipe a dollop of chocolate yogurt on top, then add some sprinkles for flair!
    2. Blueberry Banana Split Drops – start with a slice of banana, pipe a dollop of chocolate yogurt on top, then top with a blueberry :)
    3. Blackberry and Chocolate Drops – pipe a dollop of yogurt directly onto your wax paper, then add a juicy blackberry on top!

I already have another gourmet yogurt drop idea that I’m working on…keep your eyes peeled for it!!  Until then, enjoy the dreamy, creamy chocolate drops and if you do something great with them be sure to let me know!!
