About Missy
I have been ridiculously happily married for 10 years to my best friend...Yes, I know everyone says that but we actually were best friends first! We were also the couple that said we didn't want kids. HAHAHA! Clearly that didn't go as planned...I am the mother of four small children (my monkeys) who range from age 7 to 1 year. Although I have studied and worked in the field of photography in multiple capacities since I was in high school, I have never been formally trained. I am a complete nerd who loves to research, read, and experiment constantly. When I'm not trying to improve my knowledge or skill in photography; I'm researching, reading, and experimenting on fun and educational activities with my children.
I have a MA and three years of doctoral study in the field of psychology. Unfortunately, after wasting way too much time and money on my education, I realized that my motivation and interest in finishing my PhD was long gone! It wasn't a total waste however, my husband and I met in graduate school. :)
I've been very fortunate to be able to apply some of the knowledge and practices gained from my education toward being a positive influence in the lives of my children. As a mother I strive to be an empathic, positive listener with my children as well as teach them ethics, values, responsibility, and manners. I hope to educate them not only in scholastics, but in ways that will help them become contributing members of society.
So, "me time" is dedicated to my passion for photography. I have always loved reading, learning, and applying what I've learned in practice. Experiential learning is, to me, the best way to effectively learn and retain information. So as I learn and practice, I will share both my success and failure so that hopefully some of you can learn along with me!
All in all, I am tremendously blessed and have everything my little heart could desire! I hope you join me in my renaissance journey; whether you learn something or not, it'll be a fun experience. :)

Activities and crafts with my monkeys, Children, Educating my monkeys Last summer we had over three months of absolutely zero rain and temps over 100° during the entire summer. It was a hot mess! We wished and prayed for rain all summer but never got more than a sprinkle. I guess the old saying “…be careful what you wish for…” is true because we’ve had [...]

Recipes, Sweets for my sweets I have been on an Irish Coffee kick lately…not a bad kick to be on, right? It started off very innocently, I had a full pot of brewed coffee that was going to be completely wasted if I didn’t do something. Well, I’m not one to waste a good pot of coffee so I decided [...]
